Hwacheon's D2-5AX 5-axis machining center comes equipped for demanding and continuous use.

The D2-5AX is designed for heavy duty, precise 5-axis machining for mold and die, aerospace and general machining applications. "With a machine weight of 10 tons, the D2-5AX ensures minimal vibration and thermal growth stability in production environments," said a company spokesperson. "To ensure high accuracy and precision during production, the D2 5AX is built with high quality components that achieve AC/DC values of 0.7 G."
The D2-5AX has a range of spindle options beginning with its standard 50 HP high torque spindle of 12,000 RPM, up to 24,000 RPM 50 HP. Temperature sensors on the spindle and the machine bed measure and compensate for thermal factors for increased precision. The trunnion style machining center is equipped with a 600 mm diameter round table, providing an ergonomic working height of 950 mm. Up to five axes can be controlled simultaneously with adaptive feedrate control. Overload control in the event of tool breakage and collision, as well as compensation for axis misalignment by means of a calibration sphere and measuring probe, are all part of the standard equipment.
For production operations, the D2-5AX may also be customized with Hwacheon's Automatic Work Piece Changer. Suitable for complex processes, the Automatic Work Piece Changer is available as an 8-pallet or 20-pallet option. Another added feature is the D2-5AX's large windows, fitted with safety glass, allowing optimal machine viewing. The exit of the chip conveyor can be positioned either to the left of the machine or rear discharge. As an added option, a special chip conveyor for aluminum and other light metals is available. This is fitted out with mesh hinges in order to allow the cooling lubricant adhering to the chips to drain away and re-enter the cooling cycle.
