Automation Technologies to be Featured

Okuma horizontal machining centers (HMC), vertical machining centers (VMCs), 5-axis machines and multitasking lathes are capable of being fitted with CNC automation technologies that increase shop floor production. Flexible manufacturing systems are specifically configured for Okuma machine tools to allow unattended runs and lights out manufacturing. These automation systems help enhance the productivity of Okuma CNC machine tools by reducing non-cutting time due to the elimination of set-ups and changeovers.

At IMTS 2016 Okuma will be highlighting automation technologies on four machines:

  • MB-4000H (HMC) will be connected to a Fastems system and cutting an actuator and intake manifold on steel, aluminum and titanium. This HMC can also be equipped with an automatic tool changer and offers fast tool changes and high power to maximize productivity within a minimal footprint.
  • MU-4000V (VMC) will be attached to a Fastems system and cutting a landing gear bracket, prosthetic knee and Darth Vader head on steel, aluminum and Inconel. The design of this VMC allows for pallet changes at the back of the machine. ATCs can be configured with 32 to 64 tool chain magazine systems and 64 plus matrix cabinets.
  • MULTUS U3000 (multitasking lathe) will feature a barfeeder and part unloader and will be cutting a gear package on steel. B-axis turning, 5-axis Auto Tuning System and turn cut technologies will be highlighted. These Intelligent Technologies allow for precise machining from all directions.
  • MULTUS B300 (horizontal lathe) will be connected to a FANUC robot that will load and unload parts, as well as complete automatic chuck changes so the machine can cut a variety of parts and part sizes.
