ZOLLER Joins OMIC R&D

The Oregon Manufacturing Innovation Center Research and Development (OMIC R&D) has announced ZOLLER as its newest member. Founded in Germany in 1945, ZOLLER is a provider of tool presetting and measuring, inspection and measuring, tool management software and storage solutions and automation. ZOLLER has 115 employees across North America and over 600 employees located in 48 countries across the globe. "With the capabilities and experience ZOLLER brings to the membership, OMIC R&D will continue to build a world-class R&D capability supporting industry developments in advanced metals manufacturing," said an OMIC spokesperson.

Craig Campbell, Executive Director of OMIC R&D, said, "ZOLLER brings tremendous weight to OMIC R&D's high-end inspection and measuring capabilities, bolstering the strength of our unique partnership model. Their voice is critical to our efforts to help manufacturers increase their ability to quickly and effectively evaluate the quality of their products. The Board of Governors and our staff are also excited about having a ZOLLER Titan at our facility. It features the most advanced capability of any Titan in the world, and we are eager to see it in action."

OMIC R&D is the 15th innovation research collaborative established with Boeing leadership worldwide, and the first Boeing has sponsored in the U.S. Its mission is to bring together manufacturing companies and higher education in an innovative environment to solve the advanced manufacturing challenges facing industry. Faculty and university students undertake "outside-in" applied research to solve real production problems while training the next generation of engineers and technologists to meet the high demand for skilled workers in advanced metals manufacturing. Member companies pool resources and knowledge with researchers to create a highly dynamic and innovative R&D center with access to the most advanced equipment and tools.

Michael Gallier, Regional Sales Manager for the Pacific Northwest at ZOLLER Inc., said, "ZOLLER will be bringing some of its best capabilities to OMIC R&D as it seeks to solve industry's challenges. We are committed to excellence and it is clear that is OMIC's focus as well. We look forward to working together with such a strong, diverse group of industry and academic partners and are confident that ZOLLER's contribution will have a significant impact on the future of metals manufacturing."

ZOLLER Inc. joins 21 other OMIC R&D industry and university members in this collaboration: ATI; Blount; IMS Software International; Boeing; CG Tech; Daimler Trucks North America; HAIMER; Hangsterfer's Laboratories, Inc.; Kennametal; Mitsubishi Materials Corporation; Oregon Institute of Technology; Oregon State University; OSG USA, Inc; Sandvik Coromant; Portland State University; Seco Tools; Silver Eagle Manufacturing; Summit Manufacturing Inc.; Vigor; Walter Tools; and WFL Millturn Technologies.
