Metcam, a metro Atlanta-based fabricator of sheet metal components and assemblies for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), has taken home the trophy for Environmental Sustainability at Forsyth County's Manufacturers of Distinction & Leadership (MODL) Awards, hosted by the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce and South Forsyth Rotary Club. The Environmental Sustainability Award honors the top manufacturer's efforts to be leaner (no waste), greener (no impact) and globally competitive.
"We are very proud to accept this great honor," said Bruce Hagenau, President of Metcam, Inc. "We salute Forsyth County's efforts to show that what is good for business can and should also be good for the environment."
"The face of modern-day manufacturing is an important element in local workforce development and the Chamber is proud to partner with local companies investing in the region's future," added Robert Long, Vice President of Economic Development at the Chamber of Commerce.
Last year, the nearly 30-year-old company was named 2018 Small Manufacturer of the Year during the State of Georgia's 24th Annual Manufacturing Appreciation Week. It was honored for its economic impact on the state, workforce excellence and high degree of corporate responsibility.
The day before receiving the Governor's Award, Metcam was recognized as the 2017 CommScope Supplier of the Year in Dallas, TX. The Gold Winner award goes to the supplier with the best 10-point rating for safety, sustainability, Kaizen, ISO 9001, 5S, supplier risk assessment, 100% delivery, packaging and transport and overall technical capabilities.
Metcam accepted the Environmental Sustainability Award one year after being named Small Manufacturer of the Year at Forsyth County's inaugural MODL Awards, which were created by the Cumming-Forsyth Chamber and the South Forsyth Rotary Club to highlight and celebrate local manufacturers that give back to Forsyth County Schools and local community organizations.
