Second SpaceMaster Compact Coil Line Installed at Tri-Con Industries
April 1, 2014
Coe Press Equipment recently shipped the second of two SpaceMaster Compact Coil lines to Tri-Con Industries.
Coe Press Equipment recently commissioned a SpaceMaster Compact Coil Line at Tri-Con Industries on an existing Komatsu 300 ton press, which was also upgraded with a new OmniLink 5100-APC controller. Tri-Con Industries, a division of TS Tech Co., is a manufacture of seats for motorcycles, ATVs and seat parts for automobiles. This is the second Coe SpaceMaster that the company has installed.
The SpaceMaster Compact Coil Line machines combine the three functions of unwinding, straightening and feeding of coil stock into one piece of compact equipment ideal for space constrained applications. This compact arrangement provides programmable coil feeding with pilot release operation and saves valuable plant floor space.
The lines installed at Tri-Con are Coe model CCL-S3-11024, which can handle coils from 3" to 24" wide, coil diameter of up to 64", 11,000# coil weight and material from 0.156" to 0.250" thickness depending upon width. "With a roll speed of 160 FPM, these machines come with all necessary features for effective coil containment, hands-free threading and accurate feeding of the coil strip," said a company spokesperson. "True pilot release functionality is provided by the pivoting feeder-straightener."
The SpaceMaster components are rigidly mounted on a common machine base for maximum stability during the feeding process. Both the coil reel and the feeder-straightener are driven by AC digital control servo drives and motors.
