One-System ERP Software Tracks Jobs from Cradle to Grave

"In today's medical manufacturing environment, enterprises must be lean, agile, accurate and cost conscious in order to maintain a place in the global supply chain," said a Global Shop Solutions spokesperson. "This requires having a firm grip on every aspect of the business by having instant access to data. Global Shop Solutions' One-System ERP software has the applications to streamline a company's operations through:

  • Lower setup cost,
  • Shortened cycle times,
  • Increased on-time delivery,
  • Reduced administrative overhead,
  • Lower labor and material costs,
  • Improved productivity,
  • Customer service,
  • Accurate inventory tracking and
  • Elimination of manual spreadsheets.

"No matter the mode of manufacturing, Global Shop Solutions has an ERP manufacturing software application solution. The One-System ERP software will serve as a central organizing hub for the entire business, making all systems and processes more visible, and integrating every step of the manufacturing process. Employees can do their jobs more efficiently, and management can make better-informed, real-time decisions," said the spokesperson.

Cradle-to-Grave Part Tracking

Medical products often require FDA certifications that demand the ability to trace lot records from the moment a part arrives from the supplier until it gets shipped out the door.

With Global Shop Solutions, "cradle to grave" part tracking is built into the system. When material is received, it automatically gets assigned a lot number that permanently attaches to the part, making it easy to track through the entire production process. Companies can also set lot controls and specify company options so that people know exactly what material is issued to a work order, when the work order closes and which sales order it is associated with. "With barcoding, handheld scanners and wireless printing, this precise level of tracking can be accomplished with ease," said the spokesperson.

Quality Certifications

Global Shop software also streamlines the certification documentation process for medical product manufacturers.

When shipping parts to customers, the system can print a Certificate of Compliance that validates the quality of the parts. It can also apply vendor part certifications to the inventory lot/heat records, allowing employees to track which job they are used on and when. When a job is finished, the software consolidates the data on every piece of material used for the job, and creates a cert packet for delivery to the customer. "The customer can easily see every part that came from a vendor and the certifications, as well as the parts you made and your certifications," said the spokesperson.

Global Shop's Engineering Change Control allows manufacturers to rev change a part and obsolete the previous version. The built-in workflow ensures that the rev change process gets to all the right people, either through the system or by email. And Version Management - a "vault" that resides in Global Shop - helps protect the integrity of job drawings by preventing more than one person from editing the same drawing at a time. This is an especially valuable feature for large projects involving multiple engineers.

One Location for All Data

"Many companies use a variety of disparate spreadsheets and data management tools to run the business. The result is costly inaccuracies, inconsistencies and inefficiencies in every area. Global Shop Solutions eliminates the need for virtually all of those tools, and consolidates all the information into one fully integrated business management system. With all the data in one central location, employees can make better decisions and transform the company into a leaner, more competitive manufacturing enterprise," said a company spokesperson.

Global Shop Solutions' core applications are architected and written in-house from the ground up. The result is an integrated system that seamlessly incorporates packages such as Crystal Reports, Paychex, ADP, BarTender, SolidWorks, AutoCAD and more.
