New Technology Provides Faster Drilling
April 1, 2014
M4 Sciences LLC offers its Live TriboMAM drilling system using Modulation-Assisted Machining (MAM) technology. The new system uses piezo-electric actuators and precision motion control to oscillate drills and increase productivity in computer numerically controlled (CNC) lathes and turning centers. With the introduction of TriboMAM Live the MAM technology can now be used on drilling machines with rotating tools (referred to as "live" tools) that serve a key role in global medical, automotive and energy manufacturing sectors.
"With nearly 100 installed systems in 15 countries, TriboMAM technology is finding wide adoption as a solution for drilling difficult materials, drilling deep holes and eliminating expensive cannulated bar requirements," said a company spokesperson.
According to the company, TriboMAM advantages include:
- Drill up to 5x faster over a range of 0.2 mm - 12.0 mm (0.008" - 0.47") in diameter
- Double tool life by improving the effectiveness of cutting fluids
- Improve surface finish in a range of applications
- Easy install in just one hour
- Adapt into existing processes.
