Diebold Analog and Digital Pull Force Gauges

Accutek now offers Diebold analog (indicator style) and digital pull force gauges. Pull force gauges from Diebold are used to evaluate the pull-in forces of clamping systems in machine spindles. The mechanical pull force gauges from Diebold measure accuracy ±3% and are available in all machining center spindle taper styles.

"The pull-in forces of the clamping elements in the spindle can decrease due to fatigue spring assemblies, dry running of the grippers, or wear," noted a company spokesperson. "If the clamping force holding HSK toolholders becomes too low, radial stiffness, radial run-out, and the repeatability accuracy of the tapers are affected, leading to rapid wear of the spindle and toolholders. Expensive damage to the machine spindle and the workpiece can be avoided by periodically checking the pull force of spindles."

The clamping force gauges are independent of ambient temperature. "This is very important for service technicians when they are traveling," said the spokesperson. "They can use the clamping force testers immediately, even if they are removed from a warm or cold vehicle. You can immediately read off the pull-in force in kN with a measurement accuracy of ±3%. The clamping force is measured via an expansion bolt, which displays the clamping force in kN."

The reliable function of the clamping system of a machine spindle is not only a safety-relevant aspect, but also has a strong influence on the machining results. "The clamping force of a spring clamping system decreases over the course of its service life; it can also decrease significantly or even fail earlier due to wear or overload," said the spokesperson. "The clamping force tester can then be used to determine the loss of clamping force in a matter of seconds."

All pull force gauges with steep taper DIN/ANSI accept machine pull studs. For BT30 and BT40 holders, Accutek offers short pull studs for use of the pull force gauge. These pull studs with 45° and 60° clamping angles are delivered with the pull force gauge.

Digital connection to a software solution allows users to perform analyses quickly and reliably, minimizing downtime and maximizing operational reliability. The design also promotes a long service life and reliable operation, even under demanding operating conditions, the company reported. Due to the innovative rotation function, the display remains readable in any position.
