Micromachining Innovation and Advanced 5-Axis Technology

The FZ 19 S highlights the power, stability, and precision of the 19 Series mobile gantry design, engineered to machine complex aerospace components with increased rigidity and dynamic performance.

CHIRON Group will present its latest advancements in high-precision manufacturing, featuring the Micro5 XL micromachining center and the FZ 19 S 5-axis machining center.

"From ultra-precise micro components to larger, complex parts, both technologies demonstrate how manufacturers can increase productivity, improve accuracy, and remain competitive across a wide range of industries," said a company spokesperson.

Micro5 XL

The Micro5 XL represents the next generation of micromachining innovation from the CHIRON Group. Building on the success of the Micro5, the new XL version expands workpiece capacity up to 120 mm while maintaining a compact footprint of only 1.7 sq. m-offering a balance between performance and space efficiency.

Designed for demanding precision applications, the Micro5 XL features dynamic 5-axis kinematics, spindle speeds up to 50,000 RPM, and jerk values reaching 900 m/cu. s. According to the company, the result is enhanced surface quality, micron-level precision, and reduced cycle times, even on highly intricate components.

Typical applications include:

  • Bone plates and medical implants
  • Knee inserts
  • Precision mechanical components
  • Luxury watch parts.

The machine is capable of machining challenging materials such as titanium, stainless steel, and precious metals with consistency and accuracy, the company noted.

FZ 19 S 5-Axis

Also featured at IMTS 2026, the FZ 19 S 5-axis machining center is engineered to deliver the power, rigidity, and flexibility required for larger, more demanding workpieces.

With traverse paths of 850 mm (X), 960 mm (Y), and 700 mm (Z), the machine is suited for aerospace, mechanical engineering, and other high-precision applications requiring complex multi-axis machining.

"The FZ 19 S combines robust machine construction with perfectly matched CHIRON Group spindle technology to provide high torque, dynamic machining performance, and exceptional reliability-particularly when machining difficult materials such as titanium," said the spokesperson.

A large-capacity tool magazine supports complex geometries, multiple part variants, and demanding production requirements, making the FZ 19 S an ideal solution for flexible job shop environments and high-volume manufacturing, reported the company.
