At IMTS, Universal Robots will introduce a new approach to industrial automation designed for the era of physical AI-fundamentally changing how applications are deployed, scaled, and continuously improved, the company reported.
"This approach moves beyond traditional programming and standalone robot systems toward solutions that can be configured, adapted, and enhanced over time," said a company spokesperson. "It reflects a broader shift from fixed automation cells to more intelligent, connected, and evolving robotic environments capable of addressing a wider range of real-world applications."
The foundation for these advancements is PolyScope X, UR's next-generation control software. Built on a modern technology stack with JavaScript, containerized applications, and native ROS 2 support, PolyScope X combines UR's motion-control platform with an enhanced user experience. Graphical node-based programming, guided workflows, and deep scripting capabilities make it easier to deploy applications quickly while enabling more advanced AI- and vision-assisted use cases.
"Developed from more than two decades of industry leadership and informed by over 100,000 real-world deployments, this new approach lowers the barrier to automation while enabling more adaptive and intelligent operation over time," said the spokesperson. "Together, these innovations represent a foundational step forward-not just in robot capability, but in how automation is experienced, deployed, and evolved across the factory floor."
