Midwest Industrial Tool Grinding, Inc. (MITGI) recently welcomed U.S. Senator Tina Smith (D-MN) on a visit to its new Hutchinson, MN, facility. Senator Smith toured the precision manufacturing facility as part of a multistop tour in outstate Minnesota.

"An in-person visit is a great way to see modern manufacturing, and we were glad to share our experiences with Senator Smith," said Eric Lipke, President, MITGI. "Our facility is a good example of how technology, automation and people can be combined for optimized production. By using technology and automation for repetitive tasks, we are able to better utilize the talents and skills of our employees on work that requires critical thinking."

"For many years, workforce development has been a key company initiative," said Katie Bruns, MITGI Chief Human Resources Officer. "Senator Smith saw our plan in action as she met employees who started working at MITGI when they were students, who are now valued leaders in production."

"Community collaboration has helped to encourage growth in manufacturing," said Lipke. "In partnership with the Hutchinson EDA, Chamber of Commerce and the Hutchinson High School Tiger Path Program, we have seen continued growth in the direct pipeline of employees into manufacturing."

MITGI manufactures and markets standard and custom cutting tools. "Combining innovation with quality and repeatability, MITGI tools have become the product of choice in many manufacturing facilities that serve medical device, aerospace, automotive and defense industries," said a company spokesperson.
