Rob and Kimberlee Caron

Caron Engineering, Inc. has announced that its founder and President, Rob Caron, has been awarded The M. Eugene Merchant Manufacturing Medal. Established in 1986 by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), this prestigious award honors exceptional individuals who have significantly improved the productivity and efficiency of manufacturing operations.

"Caron, PE, has been a pivotal force in developing groundbreaking technology aimed at optimizing and automating processes within the manufacturing industry," said a spokesperson. "His ability to listen to the challenges faced by his customers and colleagues, and then design tailored solutions, has distinguished him as a leader in the field. Rob was recognized for his sustained innovations in machine tool technology, including advancements in tool monitoring and adaptive control techniques, automatic tool offset control and the implementation of RFID technology in machine tools."

Under Caron's leadership, Caron Engineering has developed a product line of "smart" manufacturing technology. These solutions, initially ahead of their time, have become essential for modern manufacturing, interfacing seamlessly with nearly any CNC machine control on the market.

"Rob Caron's visionary approach and dedication to advancing manufacturing technology have earned him this well-deserved recognition," said the spokesperson. "His contributions to the industry have not only optimized productivity, but also set new standards for automation, efficiency and innovation in manufacturing."

The award was presented by the ASME/SME Foundation at a luncheon in Long Beach, CA.
