West Ohio Tool Certified for Government, Defense and Aerospace Contracts

Custom tool solutions provider West Ohio Tool Co. is now Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Level 2 and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) compliant. The two new registrations further enhance the company's capabilities as a national custom tooling manufacturer for the government, defense and aerospace sectors.

CMMC Level 2 compliance is performed by a third-party assessment organization and required by the U.S. Department of Defense for designated supply-chain organizations to bid on contracts that involve sensitive data such as Federal Contract Information (FCI), Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), Covered Defense Information (CDI) and Controlled Technical Information (CTI). CMMC Level 2 compliance ensures that the data shared by the department with its contractors and suppliers is sufficiently protected against cyber intrusion and attack.

ITAR establishes controls on exports and imports of defense-related items by limiting access to information such as technical data, software, part drawings and photos concerning items on the United States Munitions List (USML). The specified information is restricted to only American citizens and must be handled on a secure, regulatory-compliant cloud storage network. Companies must register with the U.S. State Department and establish formal programs and processes that are ITAR compliant.

The most recent registrations follow last year's AS9100D certification. AS9100D is an internationally recognized standard for aerospace quality management systems essential for aerospace manufacturing companies. Acquiring the AS9100D certification earned West Ohio Tool inclusion in the Online Aerospace Supplier Information System (OASIS) that is maintained by the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG). IAQG sets quality standards for the worldwide aviation, defense and space supply chain.

West Ohio Tool is also a member of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) and its affiliate, Women In Defense (WID). NDIA is a nonpartisan, nonprofit educational association that educates its 1,780 corporate and 65,000 individual members on all dimensions of national security. WID supports women throughout the national security sector with networking, educational and career development opportunities.

The certifications, registrations and memberships are instrumental in West Ohio Tool's continued expansion into the defense, governmental and aerospace markets and its growing presence as a custom tool provider to advanced manufacturing at the national level.
