Jergens 5CV low-profile vises combine versatility, clamping forces and design for many 5-axis machining applications.
Jergens will demonstrate its 5CV 130 mm self-centering vise at EASTEC. The vise features clamping forces up to 3,600 lbs. and offers advantages for 5-axis machining applications. Among those are the reduction of jaw lift that can occur due to flex that allows the workpiece to raise up during the clamping process. To combat this errant force, the vise jaws have been engineered with a pull-down design to help ensure clamping and minimize lift.
"We have designed the vise to be easy to use and versatile so it can be tailored to desired applications," said Mike Antos, Jergens Workholding Product Manager. Quick-change jaws can be swapped out by the operator with no tools required. The vise can also be easily recentered along an adjustable centerline. Different mounting options are accounted for as well to suit personal preference and current set-up parameters. Those options include Jergens QLS, and Quick-Loc as well as Lang Quick Point and 5th Axis RockLock, both in 52 mm and 96 mm standard patterns.
The vise comes standard with step jaws that feature serrated inserts, however, alternate jaw styles can be ordered following basic nomenclature to specify aluminum soft jaws, steel soft jaws or hardened step jaws. Additional jaw sets can be purchased separately.
Jergens will also show and demonstrate many of the company's other innovations, including Quick-Loc pallets, receivers and risers; Ball Lock mounting system; ZPS clamping; OK-Vise clamps; cast iron tooling columns; and the in-line machine washdown tool.
To address specific customer challenges, Jergens will have team members present to discuss custom design and build applications, including the streamlined process for concept, design, engineering, manufacturing and installation.
