Geo. T. Schmidt, Inc. recently featured at IMTS a variety of laser marking systems and dot peen pin marking machines to demonstrate its product identification capabilities.
These machines are used to engrave products with identification information such as serial numbers, date of manufacture, part origin, inspection markings, stock, lot, and batch numbers, marks for assembly positioning and maintenance, as well as logos and 2D barcodes. These part identification marks are used for authenticity and product traceability throughout the manufacturing process and life of a part.
The company featured three lasers from its GeoMARK family: the Pro SM, the Eco Plus and the new Pro RD. These laser systems all come standard with a class I certified enclosure, a fiber laser source, intuitive software and accessory options like rotary devices for marking round parts and fume extractors. The Pro family of lasers can be customized with a different laser source and wattage size, special part fixtures, feeding systems, barcode readers, vision systems and additional safety options.
For dot peen pin marking, the company featured two of its Styliner machines: the column-mounted Mark4 8x8 and handheld portable Stinger. The Mark4 8x8 featured a standard nameplate clamp for semi-automated tag marking and the Stinger featured a custom magnetic faceplate for added support during the marking cycle.
