Raptor Workholding Products has introduced RWP-030SS, its latest dovetail fixture. "It has a 0.75-inch wide dovetail and utilizes three stainless steel clamps for superior holding strength," said a company spokesperson.
As featured on all Raptor dovetail fixtures, the RWP-030SS is made for use in milling applications on either a 4-axis or 5-axis CNC machine. The fixture design, combining a dovetail mount and spring-loaded clamping system, allows for workpieces to be held by the bottom side, that has been prepped with a matching dovetail. This allows for full access to the top and all sides of a workpiece. According to the company, the clamps typically only require 1/8" of material to hold the workpiece in place. "This means less material is wasted," said the spokesperson.
The RWP-030SS will hold a workpiece that weighs up to 40 lbs. and may range in size from 5.00" x 1.75" x 0.50" up to 7.5" x 7.5" x 7.5". This fixture can be mounted to the following Raptor adapters/risers: RWP-201, RWP-202, RWP-203, RWP-205, RWP-206, RWP-208, RWP-209, RWP-224, RWP-228, RWP-222 or RWP-223.
If an application requires additional height, an operator may utilize a Raptor Extender such as RWP-601 to add 1" or RWP-602 to add 2" along with any adapters or risers previously listed.
For modular applications the RWP-030SS can be combined with the following fixtures on top:
- Direct connect using the RWP-011SS or RWP-031SS
- Using a connector RWP-213SS with the RWP-019SS.
