Saw with Upgraded Feed Control System
February 1, 2015
Beginning with shipments in January 2015, the Wellsaw model 1318 will include an upgraded feed control system. The new system features a single push-button control to initiate the downfeed.
The new design also includes a simplified adjustment of the frame weight (counterbalance spring). "The adjustment is quicker, easier and provides a broader range of adjustment from heavy to very light," said a company spokesperson. "Users can now confidently saw anything from stainless steel bars to light conduit.
According to the company, these improvements will free up the operator from making adjustments that he or she may not be familiar with. The saw can be set up before the job with the band speed, the weight of saw frame and the feed (descent) rate. A knowledgeable supervisor can make these settings, so the operator need only raise the saw head and operate the vise to advance the stock.
According to the company, the advantages of the simplified operation include reduced training and oversight, fewer mistakes, improved blade life and increased safety.
