Missler Software, developer of the TopSolid family of integrated CAD/CAM/ERP software, and Machining Cloud GmbH, product data content provider, have announced a new partnership under which the companies plan to work together to provide TopSolid users with direct access to product data and knowledge - 3D models, cutting conditions, tool parameters - from cutting tool manufacturers.
"Many cutting tool manufacturers now make their digital data available through the Machining Cloud portal. This agreement will enable TopSolid users to rapidly and directly access this data during their part programming and machining simulation. Such modern technology will help them get the best tools and cutting conditions for their jobs, towards more efficient use of their CNC machines," said Dominique Laffret, VP Strategic Partnerships at Missler Software.
According to the company, through the Machining Cloud, the cutting tool manufacturer's descriptive usage and geometric product data and application knowledge is always complete, up-to-date and readily available to be accessed anytime from any location and device. "By utilizing cloud technology and industry standards for cutting tool data - including ISO 13399, GTC, STEP and MTConnect - together Missler Software and the Machining Cloud will provide a smooth, efficient flow of data from the cutting tool manufacturers to the end users and their TopSolid software," said Michael Taesch, Cloud Evangelist for the Machining Cloud GmbH.
TopSolid Cloud Connection is the interface between the Cloud and TopSolid software. Upon completion, key benefits will include:
- Time savings when initially populating their local tool database or screening the manufacturer's entire catalog for new tools not presently in inventory
- Enhanced machining processes by having the latest cutting tool data available for CAM programming and CNC machine simulation
- A direct access to the cutting tool manufacturers' latest recommendations on cutting speeds and conditions for a given cutting tool assembly in a given material
- Ability to make better choices when searching for new cutting tools and when deciding how to best run them on their CNC machines.
The Machining Cloud apps run on Microsoft Windows 7 and 8 powered desktop and tablet computers, as well as Android tablets and iPads. The Machining Cloud is a neutral platform open to all partners and suppliers.
