RAP works in conjunction with existing Revelations components to extend machine functionality and simplify machine setup.
Once the operator has established base machine references, the tooling can be changed and RAP will adjust the program positions accordingly.

Revelations CNC operating software, developed by Bryant Grinder, now offers simplified tooling management with its Rapid Automatic Programming (RAP) module. There are many applications where operators or engineers need to rapidly set-up machines for job shops, prototyping and short or medium production runs, and this is where RAP can be an indispensable tool for reducing change over time, according to the company.
"RAP keeps an extensive library of machine tooling, so the operator simply selects a tooling set-up and RAP automatically adjusts the program positions," said a company spokesperson. "Offsets for tooling changes are maintained and automatically applied to part programming. This is a key feature for environments where tooling changes are common.
"RAP simplifies the common machining tasks for a given type of machine. For instance, an ID grinder for a common bore grind operation has a streamlined form so that an engineer can rapidly develop a cycle. The Revelations operating system is designed to allow Bryant engineers to quickly design custom screens and features for special machine operations."

Once the operator has established base machine references, the tooling can be changed and RAP will adjust the program positions accordingly.
"RAP streamlines functions compared to traditional flowchart programming for different parts through its extensive tooling library," said the spokesperson. "By remembering specific wheel geometries, workholding devices and dressing tools, it changes programmed parameters in many places at once. RAP will allow notes, pictures and drawings to be attached to the programs for future reference and display graphics of part features and dress profiles to make programming the machine tool easier and less confusing. This module is especially beneficial when applied to multi-spindle machines where spindles might be used for different grind operations on different spindles on different parts."
RAP will keep track of tool use in order to alert operators for routine maintenance. For instance, on a grinding machine the number of dress passes against a dresser can be tracked and used to determine when the dresser should be changed.
"For some customers, there is a tradeoff between the flexibility of flowchart programming and the needs of some customers to change tooling quickly and easily for multiple set-ups," said George Nelson, Sales Manager at Bryant Grinder. "Now with RAP, tooling management is effortless, which means simpler set-ups and a simpler interface - and ultimately increased production time."
The patented Revelations CNC operating system is the standard interface for Bryant Grinder precision grinders, and can be retrofitted onto older Bryant Grinder precision machines, as well as other grinders, gear cutting equipment, lathes and milling machines.
