Mill-Turn Machining Software
October 1, 2013
Mastercam's Mill-Turn product is designed to make machining on today's high-powered turning centers and full-function machining centers simpler and easier.
The dynamic motion allows the toolpath to cut gradually, remain engaged in the material more effectively and use more of the surface on the insert.
Mastercam X7, the latest Mastercam release, features new capabilities such as the new Mill-Turn product, Renishaw probing and more.
"Mastercam Mill-Turn streamlines the programming process with intelligent job set-ups that are keyed to a specific machine," said a company spokesperson. "Intelligent work plane selection makes it easy to select the proper spindle and turret and program the part with Mastercam's milling and lathe tool paths."
Mastercam X7 integrates Renishaw's Productivity+ for in-process gauging. It uses a measuring probe on a machine tool to determine fixture offsets, orientation and critical dimensions. According to the company, probing allows for machine offsets to be automatically adjusted, even during the machining process.
The Lathe Dynamic Rough tool path is designed for hard materials cut with button inserts. "The dynamic motion allows the tool path to cut gradually, remain engaged in the material more effectively and uses more of the surface on the insert, extending tool life and increasing the cutting speed," said the spokesperson.
Also available in Mastercam X7:
- Tool Manager to create and organize tooling
- Improved Backplot and Verify utilities
- Dynamic and OptiRough toolpaths with more efficient tool motion
- Multi-threading support extended to most 2D high speed toolpaths
- Oscillate motion for Curve and Swarf 5-axis toolpaths.
