ICON Technologies' ICON 6-250 Productivity Center combines flexible machining center principles with Hydromat's rotary transfer production technology.
ICON Technologies, a division of Hydromat, offers a multi-station milling machine, the ICON 6-250. Equipped with four machining stations, two dedicated loading/unloading stations and simultaneous vertical and horizontal axis capabilities, the ICON was developed around flexible machining principles.
"Multi-station transfer technology enables simultaneous machining on all four stations, making the machine ideal for medium to high production of complex workpieces requiring multiple operations," said a company spokesperson. "The heart of the ICON 6-250 design lies in its six-position pallet changing table, which quickly transports the workholding pallets from station to station in four seconds. Two pallets are dedicated to robotic loading and unloading, with an option to use one as an idle station for gauging or work piece inversion. These features allow the ICON to achieve maximum output with a small footprint; it replaces up to six standard machining centers on a shop floor."
The ICON's part sizes range up to an 8" cube and features up to eight tools in the cut at once with eight machining units: four horizontal and four vertical units. These four cutting stations produce five-sided machining with 4-axis interpolation; six sides if the idle station is used for workpiece inversion. Each machining unit is equipped with its own HSK 63 size 12-tool changer for added flexibility.
"Ideally suited for the production of automotive, aerospace, hydraulic and HVAC parts, the ICON 6-250 was designed for production where complex cuts and tight tolerances are critical," said the spokesperson.
