Aluminum 5-C Collet Fixture for Precise Workholding Applications
September 1, 2013
Zagar Inc. offers a range of aluminum 5-C collet fixtures designed for cost effective workholding over a range of applications. "The significant advantage for customers using these collet fixtures is high precision at a lower cost due to the aluminum construction," said Brian Zagar, Sales Engineer, Zagar Inc. The base and the housing are aluminum with a hard coat anodized exterior, while the piston is hardened steel.
The low profile fixtures - which can be mounted either horizontally or vertically to suit the application - provide clamping accuracy within 0.001" tolerance for true position. Low air consumption generates normal operating pressure of 80 PSI. Additionally, the fixtures feature through-feed capability to run the part all the way through, and through-coolant via a standard port.
According to the company, they install quickly and easily, holding round, square, hex and even many contoured shapes where the collet remains stationary during clamping. Fixtures are offered to accommodate both internal and external grip in manual and automatic styles (air or hydraulically operated).
