In 2027, Hexram Machine Manufacturing celebrates 10 years of modern engineering, modular architecture, and U.S.-built reliability, the company announced. Hexram's product family blends heavy iron rigidity with flexible, application-driven configurations.
Offering built-to-spec, modular machines for the largest jobs, Hexram focuses on large-format platforms that can be tailored to the application.
The company,Äôs portfolio spans four core series:
,Ä¢ MG-Series moving gantry
,Ä¢ MP-Series moving portal
,Ä¢ MT-Series moving table
,Ä¢ MRT-Series moving rotary table.
All four share the modular, build-to-spec philosophy so customers can scale travels, axes, spindle power, and accessories to their exact requirements while leveraging proven structural building blocks. Machines are offered from 3-axis to continuous 5-axis configurations, so shops can match the level of contouring and complexity to their mix of parts.
At the heart of Hexram,Äôs design is a distinctive box-in-box gantry and ram carrier that completely encases a hexagonal-shaped ram. By surrounding the ram with a rigid structural envelope, the system increases stiffness and reduces deflection under load, which is critical for large-format machining where tool lengths, part sizes, and cutting forces can magnify tiny errors. The result is a stability envelope that aims to outperform typical designs in this class, helping customers hold tolerances while pushing material removal rates.
Offering multiprocess capability, from heavy milling to turning and boring, Hexram machines are engineered to be production multipliers. The MRT-Series, in particular, extends beyond large-format milling to support turning and boring operations on the same platform. That consolidation reduces set-ups, fixtures, and floor-to-floor time on large components,Äîtranslating to better part accuracy and lower total cost.
To suit different materials, geometries, and duty cycles, Hexram offers a wide array of head and tool changer options, including:
,Ä¢ Two-axis full contouring heads with selectable horsepower, torque, and RPM ranges
,Ä¢ Infinite-positioning universal milling heads
,Ä¢ Orthogonal and universal automatic indexing heads in 1¬∞ or 2.5¬∞ increments
,Ä¢ Vertical spindles and right-angle heads
,Ä¢ A complete range of turning and boring heads
,Ä¢ Configurable head changers and tool changers in multiple formats
,Ä¢ Different tool tapers in HSK-A100, HSK-A63, CAT BIG Plus 50, Capto C5, C6 and C8.
This catalog of modular building blocks allows users to tailor kinematics and cutting capability to everything from heavy hogging to fine finishing,Äîwithout sacrificing the structural integrity that underpins accuracy, the company reported.
Hexram launched its first decade with FANUC controls and has since expanded to offer Siemens as well, giving customers the ability to standardize on their preferred CNC system.
"Behind the machines is a service culture shaped by a 75-year machine tool lineage and two decades of importer and dealer experience," said a company spokesperson. "That heritage shows up in practical ways,Äîresponsive applications engineering, informed troubleshooting, and lifecycle support that recognizes the demands of high-value, large-format capital equipment. For many customers, that level of post-installation commitment is as decisive as the machine itself."
Hexram designs and builds its machines in a modern 70,000-sq.-ft. facility in Cincinnati, OH,Äîstill known to many as the ,Äúmachine tool capital of the world.,Äù The company has plans to add approximately 20,000 sq. ft. with heavier overhead cranes, expanding capacity for even larger builds, assemblies, and factory runoffs.
Over the past four years, Hexram has broadened its engineering scope to include special-application machine tools in standard vertical and horizontal configurations. That expansion reflects a growing demand for tailored solutions,Äîwhere platform modularity, head technology, and fixturing are orchestrated around a customer,Äôs specific part family.
"Large-format machining is not just about size,Äîit is about confidence," noted the spokesperson. "Parts are expensive. Set-ups are lengthy. Tolerances are unforgiving. Transportation is costly. Hexram,Äôs first 10 years have been devoted to that reality: keep the structure rigid, keep the kinematics flexible, keep the controls familiar, and keep service close to the floor. As North American manufacturers aim to reshore complex work and compress supply chains, those fundamentals matter more than ever."
Magna Machine Co. is a sister company of United Precision Services, the exclusive importer for Hexram, and serves as a working showroom.
Scott Kramer, President, Magna Machine, said: ,ÄúWe installed the first prototype Hexram MP1024 in 2018. The machine is a full 5-axis portal milling machine with HSK A100 spindle nose and 13,000 maximum RPM. We run this machine 20 hours per day with very few issues machining parts in aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel. The structure is rigid and the machine holds tight tolerances.,Äù
