Entry-Level Industrial Machine

Vulcan Machine Co. has built a mill with a focus on empowering micro-fabricators, small business owners and other machinists to increase their production capabilities with an entry-level industrial machine. It is built to handle a wide range of materials, from aluminum to hardened steel and everything in between. Additionally, it is designed with convenience in mind, fitting through a residential door and running on standard single phase 220/240 VAC power.

The mill comes standard with a 4-tool table-mounted ATC system and the capability to rigid (and peck) tap, included at no extra cost. Available options include an enclosure, stand with flood coolant system, higher capacity integrated tool changer and spindle through-coolant. Even without any of the additional options, this mill comes fully assembled, and ready to mill out of the crate.

Key features of the mill include:

  • Heavy cast iron frame (around 1,500 lbs. of gray iron)
  • Enhanced hybrid column-gantry design minimizes cantilever forces and maximizes rigidity
  • 13" x 13" x 14" travels
  • 12k RPM BT30 spindle with variable frequency driven 5 HP motor
  • Narrow enough to fit through a residential front door and be moved with a pallet jack
  • Robust 25/30 mm linear guides and 25/32 mm double ball nut ball screws (XY/Z)
  • Closed loop feedback stepper axis motors
  • Centroid CNC control - probing, tool height tables, conversational, feed override, etc.
  • Accepts G-code from any CAM software.

The Vulcan team is currently in the beta phase, working with a handful of test users to gain user feedback and smooth out any bugs. The mill will be available for purchase in fall of 2020.
