Advanced Pallet Changing Expands Capacity
July 1, 2015
GF Machining Solutions' Mikron HPM 800U can be paired with automatic pallet changing and ample tool magazine for continuous unmanned operation.
"GF Machining Solutions focuses on how manufacturers affected by the skilled labor shortage can maintain growth by using technology to expand their capacity," said a company spokesperson. For automated part-processing systems, the company offers its Mikron HPM 800U high-precision machining center paired with advanced pallet changing system and 210-tool magazine options for continuous unattended operations.
Designed for the production of high-quality tools, molds and high-value parts, the HPM 800U features a sturdy and compact design with a large working space and unrestricted workpiece access. Maximum X-Y traverse paths are 31.5" each, with a Z-axis that provides 27.6" clearance between the table surface and spindle nose. Workpieces up to 31.5" in diameter and 23.6" high can be machined on five sides, even with the fully automated pallet version of the machine that can be equipped with a 2, 7, 9 or 12-pallet changer.
"The HPM 800U's Step-Tec spindle provides high performance, even in applications such as large steel drilling with high torque requirements," said the spokesperson. "Inline motor spindle options include a 20,000 RPM version for general machining or 28,000 RPM version for machining with small tools. Both options feature the HSK-A63 interface and are suited for complex open-die surfaces or machining basic materials. The 28,000 RPM spindle uses CoolCore, a water-cooled rotor shaft, to maintain thermal stability and maximize accuracy."
