New High-Speed EDM Wire Cutting Machine
July 1, 2015
KNUTH offers a new generation of high-speed EDM wire cutting machines. "The KNUTH DEM Series are simple wire EDM machines that are low cost to buy and operate," said a company spokesperson. "These machines sell for a fraction of some wire EDM machines, and the efficient use of wire is cost effective. The molybdenum wire is used for multiple passes, providing a low wire cost."
The KNUTH DEM series can hold a workpiece up to 32" x 20" x 20", 2,205 lbs., and has full 4-axis capability for draft angles up to 30° (4" workpiece). The machine uses the ELAPT 3.2 software that runs offline, and programs can be downloaded to the machine with the USB port. DXF files can be imported and processed directly. The machine can be programmed down to 0.000004" increments and is built to achieve positioning accuracies of 0.0008". "Flushing is used instead of full submersion and achieves very fine cuts with surface finishes down to 1.2 µm Ra," said the spokesperson. "The machine comes with programming software, diamond guides, paper filter and more."
