Measure Fine Features for Micro Manufacturing

"As micro manufacturing technology continues to enable machining and printing of ever-smaller devices and mechanisms, measurement of these tiny parts becomes more complex," said a RAM Optical Instrumentation spokesperson. "Smaller feature sizes and tighter tolerances demand higher measurement accuracy and precision for quality control applications. Non-contact optical measuring systems are ideal for measuring micro-parts, and the latest optical technologies are geared to the unique requirements posed by very small feature sizes."

According to the company, QVI SparkMVP systems from RAM Optical Instrumentation combine a compact and reliable measurement platform with a high resolution fixed lens optical system to provide the precision needed for micro manufacturing quality control. With a variety of interchangeable objective lenses to choose from, SparkMVP can be configured for specific measurement applications with the flexibility to set the magnification, working distance and depth of field for each application. "Specifically, SparkMVP's interchangeable objective lenses make it simple for users to obtain accurate measurements on parts that require a high magnification range and smaller depth of field, providing focus sensitivity and sharper images," said the spokesperson.

In addition, SparkMVP offers an optional through-the-lens laser with no offset between the laser and optical paths, reducing stage motion and providing overall faster measurements. Optional focus grid projector and touch probe extend SparkMVP's capabilities to a broad range of applications.

"With the integration of QVI Measure-X metrology software, SparkMVP fixed lens systems provide high accuracy and precision for complex micro manufacturing applications with instantaneous digital zoom changes and complete digital readouts," said the spokesperson.
