Machine Safety Products Shown at IMTS 2022

Attendees at the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) 2022 will be able to see firsthand new safety products from Ferndale Safety, a North American-based machine safety manufacturer and provider. Ferndale Safety's machine safety products include Vertical Turret Lathe (VTL) guarding and electronic brakes for single-phase motors.

A proactive approach to safety guarding prevents injuries, accidents and thousands of dollars in lost productivity, fines and downtime. Ferndale Safety's President, Pierre Maheu, stresses that if more management-level personnel knew how easy it is to make machinery safer to use with off-the-shelf safety guarding, we could prevent many worksite accidents in the first place. He said that OSHA fined one company in Florida almost $400,000 with downtime due to the lack of machine guarding.

"The Ferndale Safety engineering team has worked hard designing the next-generation VTL and Vertical Boring Mill (VBM) guarding solutions over the last two years. The Ferndale VTL guard features modularity and easy assembly with a typical installation time of two hours, while offering protection against entanglement hazards, thrown chips and coolant splashing," said a company spokesperson.

Ferndale Safety will also show its new MakeSafe product line of single-phase motor brakes. "These brakes install in seconds and provide almost instantaneous stopping on machines such as bench grinders and band saws," said a company spokesperson.
