AWEA LP-4025YZF bridge type VMC
Yama Seiki and AWEA have introduced the SP and LP series bridge-type vertical machining centers (VMCs) with advanced machining abilities and progressive technology capabilities. "The SP and LP series bridge type VMCs combine strong spindle power and a super rigid machine structure with high quality automation equipment," said a Yama Seiki spokesperson. "The full product line provides high efficiency, high productivity machining capabilities." The SP and LP series can be broadly applied in the automotive, precision mold, aerospace and energy industries.
"Using advanced development techniques, including finite element analysis (FEA), and strict assembly processes, the SP series ultra-performance bridge type machining center provides optimum rigidity, accuracy and efficiency," said the spokesperson. Designed with a modular spindle offering cutting flexibility, and rigid roller type linear guideways on the X and Y axes supported by a Precision Feedback system the SP series can handle cutting at high speeds.
"Further providing a solid foundation, the SP series comes with a Z-axis equipped with hardened, rigid box guideways; the bridge and base of the machine are cast as individual pieces, providing maximum structural integrity and all contact surfaces are hand scraped to ensure optimum assembly precision, strong mechanical integrity and perfect load distribution," continued the spokesperson. The SP series machine is engineered with a foundation designed for heavy-duty cutting needs.
The LP series provides the same construction features as the SP machine, including the modular spindle design, rigid box way on the Z-axis, and using the same building techniques, while also offering a larger range of travel lengths, increasing its flexibility for a wide range of different machining needs.
"The LP series continues the AWEA's tradition of innovation, by introducing a wide span symmetrical center-driven X-axis design with the ball screw placed in the center of the table to provide high precision axial feeding," said the spokesperson. The LP series can also be equipped with an automatic head changer and a vertical / horizontal ATC system, turning it into a 5-face machining center and providing more cutting flexibility. The optional automatic head storage magazine provides two cabinets with independent swing doors for each cabinet to avoid contamination during head changes. Linear guideways enable quick head changes to reduce noncutting time.
AWEA bridge type machines are engineered with an optimal spindle system, offering power cutting capability. This spindle system is built with a center-symmetric head design, with the main spindle, spindle motor and ball screw all aligned along a center line through the spindle head, with counter balance weights placed symmetrically, to prevent thermal distortion and minimize deflection, thereby ensuring high accuracy at any speed. The spindle can be built to help reduce centrifugal forces and minimize vibrations, or installed as normal and driven directly, separating it from heat generated by the motor which can reduce long term deformation of the unit.
