Laser Texturing Machines for Orthopedic Implant Production

For the production of medical components, the LASER P 400 3-axis and LASER P 400U 5-axis laser texturing machines from GF Machining Solutions provide easy, repeatable laser engraving, surface texturing and structuring for small parts such as hip implants. "As a one-stop shop for complete implant processing systems, GF Machining Solutions can pair the laser texturing machines with its high-speed, high-precision milling technology, EDMs and modular pallet single set-up workholding for the seamless and precise transfer of workpieces from one process to the next," said a company spokesperson.

"As with all of GF Machining Solutions' LASER machines, the automation-ready LASER 400 family offers infinitely repeatable high performance along with enhanced accuracy and quality," continued the spokesperson. "The range's fully digitized texturing process makes it easy to texture, mark, engrave and add functional texture to parts, molds and dies, even when dealing with complex 3D parts."

The modular concept of the LASER 400 family includes a patented dual laser head that includes both a fiber nanosecond laser and femtosecond pulsed laser. This allows texturing and engraving of a surface with a single set-up and extends the range of materials that can be used.

With a footprint of just 48.4" x 87.8", the LASER 400 machines are easy to incorporate into an existing production environment. The LASER P 400 accommodates workpieces of up to 23.6" x 15.7" x 9.8", while the LASER P 400U accommodates workpieces with a maximum diameter and height of 4.7".
