Doosan Machine Tools offers its DNM 5700S, a high-speed version of its DNM vertical machining center (VMC). Engineered for high-speed cutting, it also reduces non-cutting time, making this VMC suitable for high productivity shops.
Speed comes standard on the DNM 5700S due to a newly designed 15,000 RPM directly-coupled 40 taper BIG-PLUS spindle. This 25 HP spindle features 87 ft-lbs. of torque, and accelerates from 0 to 15,000 RPM in 3.6 seconds. Additionally, rapid traverse rates were increased to 1,654 IPM in X and Y and 1,417 IPM in Z to keep cutting tools in the cut longer.
A wide cast frame with eight leveling positions has been optimized with 3-D computerized analysis to improve rigidity and stability. The DNM 5700S also incorporates roller LM guideways on the X-, Y- and Z-axis for speed and added rigidity (33%-44% more rigid than ball LM guideways). The 51.2" by 21.3" table holds a maximum weight of 1,764 lbs.
Other standard features include a 30-tool magazine (with an available 40- and 60-tool servo-driven version). An Easy Operation Package (EOP) software provides operator convenience, while an oil-cooled spindle controls heat to minimize thermal issues. The DNM 5700S comes with a grease lubrication system designed to save on maintenance costs and uses an eco-friendly coolant, eliminating the need for an oil skimmer.
