Braun Machinery to Debut Takumi Die/Mold Machine

Braun Machinery will host the official North American premiere of Takumi machine tools at Amerimold 2016 in booth 217, taking place June 15-16 in Novi, MI. Takumi was founded in 1988 and builds linear and box way verticals, double column and bridge machines equipped with industrial controls. Braun Machinery has been granted exclusive distribution rights of Takumi machines in Michigan.

Braun will exhibit the Takumi H10 vertical machining center (VMC) equipped with the FANUC 31i series control. Designed specifically for the die/mold industry, the H-Series machines offer a rigid and thermally stable double-column design for parts and molds that require high precision and enhanced surface finishes. The H10 has XYZ travels of 40.16"/27.56"/19.69"; rapids of 1,259 IPM on all three axes and a 15,000 RPM direct drive spindle.

A long-time distributor of Hurco, Braun Machinery will also demonstrate the Hurco VMX42i. Equipped with UltiMotion, a patented motion control system invented by Hurco, this technology is designed to reduce cycle time up to 30% while providing enhanced surface finish quality. UltiMotion uses advanced software algorithms for motion planning instead of conventional hardware, which means it optimizes look-ahead up to 10,000 blocks.

The Hurco VMX42i has XYZ travels of 42"/24"/24" and XYZ rapids of 1,378/1,378/1,181 IPM. "The Hurco VMX42i is built to last and to retain accuracy with larger linear rails that are strategically spaced and mounted to a machined shoulder for increased rigidity," said a spokesperson. "Additionally, the linear rails are wedge-locked to the frame to reduce vibration instead of the face-milled process. The double-nut, pre-tensioned ballscrews are anchored at both ends to increase accuracy and rigidity."

The Hurco integrated control is optimized for the advanced toolpaths generated by CAM systems with a 64-GB solid state drive, 2 GB of memory, a 2-GHz Dual Core Intel Processor and processing speed over 3,000 bps.
