Tool Measurement and Tool Data Transfer

ZOLLER tool presetter and measuring machine »smile« with myTouch operating technology »pilot 2 mT«

Direct communication between ZOLLER tool presetter and machine tool: Transfer of tool data via Data Matrix Code (DMC), label, RFID chip, post processor or also by higher-order production management systems.

"The ZOLLER myTouch operating technology »pilot 2 mT« makes it simple for beginners to preset tools. For comprehensive requirements, »pilot 3.0« is designed for easy handling of every ZOLLER tool presetter and measuring machine. Despite its range of measuring programs and functions, this image processing with its diversity and performance is easy to handle," said a company spokesperson. In combination with the ZOLLER TMS Tool Management Solutions operators can manage tools over their entire life cycle and optimize their manufacturing process directly on the tool presetter and measuring machine.

Worldwide, there are a large number of machine manufacturers who use different control systems. With ZOLLER, secure transfer of measured tool data is already possible independently of any specific manufacturer, either via label, RFID chip, post processor or also using higher-order production control systems. One simple variant involves encryption of the actual data in a data matrix code that is scanned by a scanner device connected to the controller on the CNC machine.

To perform data transfer by means of an RFID chip, the RFID chip is written with its actual data by a tool identification unit on the tool presetting and measuring device and can therefore be scanned automatically by the machine tool. There has for several years now been the option of using the post processor to prepare data for use by the controller and to transmit it to the machine controller by mouse click.
