The Hoffmann Group's GARANT MasterSteel HPC milling cutter is designed for high metal removal rates and increased tool life.
"The milling cutter features generous flutes that allow the milling cutter to evacuate a large volume of chips, even at enhanced feedrates," said a company spokesperson. "Dynamic helical pitch and unequal spacing of the cutting edges ensure smooth running. Honing of the cutting edges coupled with a high-quality ground finish also lead to low wear. In addition, the high-performance substrate is provided with a newly developed coating that renders the milling cutter especially wear-resistant and contributes to long tool life.
"The milling cutter performs especially well on steel materials. These include unalloyed, low-alloy and high-alloy steels. In addition, it is classed as a green ring tool for universal use, including stainless steel and cast iron.
"In the test on high-alloy tool steel the MasterSteel outperformed the competition to the extent of an 83% longer tool life. In addition, during field tests with welded fabrications of ST52 with a high number of flame-cut edges, the MasterSteel displayed 150% longer tool life while at the same time achieving 66% higher feedrates."
