OSG has introduced the new PHOENIX PXD exchangeable head indexable drills and PHOENIX PD indexable drills.

"The PHOENIX PXD, an exchangeable head indexable drill series, offers efficient, versatile and precise holemaking," said a company spokesperson. They are designed for machining 3XD and 5XD holes with multiple diameters in a variety of materials such as carbon and alloy steel, cast iron and non-ferrous materials. The drill has polished flutes for chip evacuation and internal coolant for efficient drilling. In addition, WD1 coating prevents margin wear, extending productivity and tool life. The PHOENIX PD indexable drill series was designed to tackle deep hole drilling and to provide stable holemaking up to 5XD. "Normally, it is difficult to achieve stable drilling up to 5XD with a double-flute, single-edge indexable drill, but OSG's proprietary design makes it possible," said the spokesperson. The drill's flute design with high precision finish and integrated chip breaker allows for chip evacuation by breaking the chips into small pieces.
