Three-Micron Collet Chucks
November 1, 2015
Pioneer has expanded its 3-micron collet chucks to include inch size collets from 1/8" to 1" in 1/32" increments for the SX Collet System.
To assure accuracy of all 3-micron collets, Pioneer in Chicago hand inspects every collet. All SX-P collets are inspected at four times diameter in length from the front of the collet nut. The check is performed on three axes to verify repeatability. Three-micron collet chucks are designed for performance drilling and finish milling for optimal cutting tool performance, finish and tool life. "SX is a longer collet providing increased surface contact for superior grip force which provides higher driving torque over competitive systems," said a company spokesperson.
Lee Flick, Vice President of Tooling said, "By hand inspecting every SX-P collet before we ship, we assure our customers they are receiving the best performance possible for their tools to operate. SX-P will provide a better finish, longer tool life and reduce secondary operations in all popular shank styles."
For slim nose or 5-axis applications Pioneer offers the VX Collet Chuck that is also 3 microns at four times diameter in length from the collet face. VX is a draw bolt style rear pull collet that does not require a nut and is operated by a tightening ring at the center of the holder. This allows for smaller nose diameter starting at 1/2" for 1/4" cutting tools. "VX is a finish milling product that has extended tool life and improved finish in most applications," said the spokesperson.
