At AmeriMold 2014, June 11 and 12 in Novi, MI, Seco Tools, LLC will showcase a variety of high-performance cutting tool products for high feed square shoulder, face and copy milling applications in booth 716. Application engineers will also be available to discuss productivity-boosting machining techniques for the moldmaking industry.
High feed milling tools on display will include the High Feed 2, 218.19 and Niagara MZN410R and 510R solid carbide cutters. High Feed 2 small diameter cutters, ranging from .625" to 1.25", offer high feed rates and small depths of cut for handling a variety of applications. The close-pitch 218.19 cutter, available in 2" to 4" diameters, features differential flute spacing for achieving high feedrates and increased metal removal capabilities. Niagara MZN410R and 510R cutters, offered in inch sizes, provide tight and close access to smaller corner radii at mold cavity floors and side walls.
Turbo 10 and Square 6 will represent the company's square shoulder products. Turbo 10 brings high machining flexibility to applications involving tough materials by offering a wide variety of inserts, geometries, corner radii and helical cutters. Square 6 cutters, which employ trigonal inserts with six indexable cutting edges, are designed for a wide range of materials, operations and machining conditions.
Face milling solutions will include the Double Octomill and Quattromill. Double Octomill cutters feature inserts with 16 numbered cutting edges to minimize cost per edge and part. The tools also feature pre-hardened cutter bodies to help maximize tool life and performance. The QuattroMill is intended to bring economy and performance to a full range of face milling applications. Its strong, square inserts and highly positive geometries, with up to a 35° rake angle, permit free cutting performance.
The R218.20 ball nose cutter will illustrate one of Seco's copy milling products. Available in diameters from 0.625" to 2", the cutter features a rigid design and two effective teeth. The R218.20's insert and body strength provide enhanced security and reliability, making it suitable for unmanned production. The insert edge is "S" curved to reduce cutting forces and has a constant cutting rake along the edge.
