Save Time and Money on Injection Mold Protection

A can of Cortec's EcoAir Tool & Die Rust Preventative provides a convenient way to save time, money, and hassle while maintaining and protecting molds from corrosion, according to a Cortec spokesperson.

"Two vulnerable times for injection molds are during transit and storage," said a company spokesperson. "Sometimes, custom-made molds worth tens of thousands of dollars must spend several weeks at sea crossing the ocean in less than optimal conditions. Once at the factory, injection molds benefit from extra protection when they sit idle-sometimes for months or years before they are used again. If corrosion occurs, it will at minimum consume valuable employee time for cleaning and restoration. At maximum, it could mean the loss of the mold."

The spokesperson added: "A quick spray with EcoAir Tool & Die Rust Preventative can go a long way to avoiding corrosion complications inside injection molds during these sensitive times. EcoAir Tool & Die offers several benefits."

These benefits include:

  • Easy to atomize over large areas using the power of compressed air (EcoAir bag-on-valve technology)
  • Cleans grease, oils, adhesives, and water deposits off metal surfaces
  • Displaces moisture and protects metal surfaces from corrosion
  • Preserves all types of carbon or alloy-based steel tooling, molds, fixtures, and dies long-term, up to 24 months indoors
  • Does not typically need to be cleaned off before mold use, saving time and effort
  • Contains approximately 25% renewable content, replacing a portion of traditional solvents with vegetable oil.
