KAAST Machine Tools announces the North American availability of the RBD-4HD . This system is specifically engineered for the rigorous standards of the aerospace and defense sectors. As the industry shifts toward high-strength aluminum alloys, the RBD-4HD provides a sophisticated forming solution, the company reported.
The RBD-4HD 4-roll geometry of the RBD-4HD allows for the precise pinching of plates between the top and bottom rolls. This configuration enables double-initial pre-bending of both edges in a single pass. According to the company, such a process nearly eliminates the "flat ends" common in traditional 3-roll bending. It is designed to provide the alignment required for critical longitudinal welds in aerospace fuel tanks and defense housings.
To protect sensitive aluminum surfaces, the RBD-4HD utilizes induction-hardened, precision-ground and polished rolls. These prevent micro-marring during the forming process. An advanced electronic synchronization system maintains roll parallelism within millimeters. This delivers the consistent circularity required for high-spec automated welding cells.
The system includes PLC automation for storing and recalling bending programs. This provides repeatable precision across production runs. The RBD-4HD combines torsion bar and hydraulic balancing to maintain accuracy under heavy loads. It can handle everything from thin-gauge aerospace aluminum to heavy armor plating.
