A new generation of automated durometer hardness testers is now available with the launch of Amada's Imada ATD Series Auto Durometer Hardness Testers.
These testers are engineered to provide highly consistent, standards-compliant hardness measurements for rubber and plastics. Designed for production, laboratory, and quality control environments, the ATD Series combines automated motion control, intuitive operation, and advanced data handling in a rugged, industrial-grade system, the company reported.
The product line includes two models:
- ATD-L supports Shore A, B, E, O, OO, and Asker C scales
- ATD-H supports Shore C, D, and DO scales.
Both models feature bright OLED displays for visibility in low-light environments and a single-button MEASURE operation, enabling rapid, repeatable testing with minimal operator training.
Key features:
- OLED display for clear visibility in dark or bright environments
- Simple push-button operation
- Peak, Timer Hold (single or dual), and Real-Time measurement modes
- Auto Average function for averaging a selectable number of readings
- Auto height adjustment for fast, consistent set-up
- Fast Approach followed by controlled measuring speed minimizes overshoot
- High/low setpoints with color-coded LEDs for Go/No-Go testing
- Auto Contact system enables full, even contact with the sample surface
- Menu security lock protects programmed settings
- Rugged metal construction for industrial durability
- Full compliance with ASTM D2240; calibration certificate traceable to NIST included; optional ISO-17025 certificate available.
ATD auto durometers maintain constant load, speed, and hold time to help ensure measurement repeatability and full compliance with ASTM D2240. Auto Height Adjustment enables quick set-up across different sample sizes, while interchangeable durometers, adapters, and weights allow testing across multiple hardness scales.
Users can configure test parameters using the simple menu system and push-button controls. Measurement modes include Peak, Timer Hold, and Real Time. The Auto Average function automatically calculates the average of a user-selected number of readings, while built-in timers track the decrease in peak hardness over time.
Testing can be initiated by pressing the MEASURE button or by sending ASCII commands. Fast Approach accelerates the initial descent, then transitions to the programmed measuring speed at the specified clearance. Auto Contact ensures full, even contact with the sample surface before measurement begins. After testing, the durometer automatically returns to its home position.
Hardness data can be transmitted directly through the USB port using the included cable or stored in the 400 data internal memory. Optional data acquisition software is available for enhanced reporting and analysis.
