Northwest Machine Tool Expo and Conference May 10-11



3D scanning and printing, new automation technologies and industry best practices are highlights of the free seminars at the Northwest Machine Tool Expo and Conference at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, OR. This event, directed to those working in manufacturing and machining in the Northwest, will be held May 10-11 and consists of expo and conference, both free to attendees. This bi-annual event is now in its 35th year.

A particularly high-interest presentation in the conference is "Achieving Affordable Real-World Manufacturing Solutions Through Advanced Technology" by Mark Harris, President of CNC Machine Services Inc. He will discuss how innovations using advanced manufacturing play a critical role in being competitive in today's global market. Attendees will discover emerging manufacturing technologies and automation ideas including robotics, AI and additive manufacturing (AM). The session is on May 10 at 9:50 AM.

Other seminars will include:

  • "Metal 3D Printing vs. Machining," Chirag Kapoor, Indicate Technology
  • "Machining Best Practices," Urmaze Naterwalla, Oregon Manufacturing Innovation Center
  • "End Mill Troubleshooting and Proper Setup," Don Grandt, Harvey Performance Company
  • "Coping with Labor Shortages in Manufacturing," Tami Trout, Oregon Manufacturing Extension Partnership
  • "CNC Machine Errors and Calibration," Larry Sarkinen, Sarkinen Calibrating
  • "Taking Advantage of Tax Credits," Rick Kleban, Sycamore Growth Group.

Products and services to be showcased at the expo include 3D printing, CAD/CAM systems, cutting tools, machine controls, measurement systems, quality control and robotics. Exhibitors include PT Solutions/Western Tool & Supply, Stellar Industrial Supply, Precise Tool & Gage, Haimer USA, CNC Machine Services, Indicate Technologies, Trinity Robotics & Automation, FANUC, Olympus Controls and Horn USA.

Also, a facilities engineering event, the Northwest Facilities/Managing Green Buildings Expo and Conference, is being held during the same days at the convention center, with free cross-over privileges for Northwest Machine Tool Expo attendees.

Northwest Machine Tool Expo hours:

  • May 10: 10 AM to 4 PM
  • May 11: 10 AM to 3 PM.

Conference hours are from 8:40 AM to 2 PM on both May 10 and 11.

The Oregon Convention Center is at 777 NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Portland, OR.
