Chaparral Machinery Announces New Ownership

(l-r) David Sexton and Christopher Turnbull

Chaparral Machinery, a Texas based machine tool distributor, has announced a change in ownership. The new owners are Christopher Turnbull and David Sexton, who together have 65 years of experience in the industry.

For the last 13 years, Sexton owned Superior Industrial Repair LLC, a full service and application machine tool repair company specializing in jet engine repair. He previously worked for Maruka USA as an application engineer and technician, and for Sandvik Coromant USA as senior cutting tool specialist. Sexton trained at the National Tool and Die Association in its apprenticeship program.

Originally from the UK, Turnbull ran a machine shop in Grand Prairie, TX, for four years and worked at Salem Tools Solutions for seven years, four of which he was regional sales manager covering Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Mexico. He has worked in the toolmaking, automotive, oil & gas, aerospace and power generation industries. Turnbull completed an Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering at Carbide UK.

"Manufacturing has changed in the last 10 years," said a Chaparral spokesperson. "Increasingly more emphasis is being put on suppliers and back-end support to 'fix' the production needs of customers. With fewer people entering the industry and the need to combat offshoring, there is a growing demand for more automation and transfer line production. This is where we feel Chaparral will shine. With our manufacturing knowledge we can offer a complete manufacturing solution, from raw material to fully deburred/coated product. Chaparral Machinery also offers high-end saws, state of the art robotics, precision CNC and EDM machines, parts washers and coaters along with metrological, tool and workholding equipment. Our goal is to reduce your manufacturing costs while enhancing your manufacturing capabilities, and in doing so increase your profitability."
