Constructed on a cast iron base utilizing Hermle's patented modified gantry design, the C 62 UMT features simultaneous milling and turning capabilities in up to 5 axes - allowing for an entire workpiece to be completed in one set-up.
"The adaptability of the C 62 UMT mill makes it an evergreen machine for most aerospace and defense machined applications," Vice President of Operation Manuel Merkt said. "This adaptability allows the C 62 to be a one-stop-shop for the aerospace and defense sector."
The C 62, the biggest of the current Hermle product line, boasts the largest working area relative to the footprint of the series. A 1,200, 1,300, 900 mm traverse in the X-, Y- and Z-axes respectively are complemented by a standard 12,000 RPM spindle. The 70 position tool changer allows for flexibility in multiple part manufacturing, and chip-to-chip time is a minimal 9.5 seconds. Control options include Heidenhain TNC 640 and Siemens S 840 D SL.
