Hands-on Haas Service Training

"Ready to take your Haas service skills to the next level? Phillips Corporation has developed a highly rated course to help service technicians troubleshoot, repair and maintain their Haas machines faster and more effectively. As a Haas preferred service training provider, Phillips covers skills, such as Lathe Alignment, Turret Repair (ST, SL and BMT), Tool Changer Repairs, Ball Screw and Spindle Replacement and more," said a Phillips Corporation spokesperson.
This 5-day hands-on course is offered weekly, year-round at three different locations: Knoxville, TN; Bensalem, PA; and Rock Hill, SC. All participants receive a Haas Service Key that unlocks service parameters on any Next-Gen Control Haas, allowing them to do more repairs on their own.
A recent attendee at the service training courses, William Simmon, a machinist from Fluid Conditioning Products, Inc. (FCP) explained how the training helped him set up a maintenance program at FCP. "I was new to the company as a machinist and wanted to focus on machine work and maintenance. The main challenge I faced was that a preventative maintenance program was non-existent for the CNC machines at my company and our most knowledgeable maintenance employee was retiring. We did not have a CNC maintenance team or program even though we contracted with the DOD (aerospace, Navy and submarine work). I needed more familiarity with the machines," said Simmon.
The new machinist heard about Phillips Haas Service Training and decided it sounded like an excellent opportunity to take maintenance at FCP in a different direction. "I wanted to know all that I could to be more proficient on the machines," said Simmon. "I wanted to learn the correct way to troubleshoot and make machine repairs. Since attending the Haas Service Training I can see things from a different perspective. I can identify the systems more efficiently and reference my Haas Service Training Key for added information," he continued.
FCP runs a variety of machines in the shop including lathes, mills, presses, digital pleating machines, welders and more. "We are all 'metalheads' because when it comes to underwater filtration, all metal filters outperform traditional 'glass fiber' or fiberglass filters in aerospace and marine applications," said Simmon. "While we produce a limited selection of disposable filter elements that utilize legacy materials, our primary focus is metal. Our filtration products are used in some of the most challenging environments and provide mission-critical reliability for aerospace, marine and defense industries."
"This service training has saved FCP five days of downtime in a three-month period and increased product quality. FCP is government sanctioned and regulated, and after source inspections and audits has received positive feedback from these entities," said Simmon.
