Smart Tool Calibration Technology for Beveling

United Precision Services, Inc., a provider of turn-key medium to large CNC machine tool solutions, announced that North America fabricators will now have access to Auto Calibration of Tool Geometry (ACTG) technology developed by MicroStep to provide metal processors with precise beveling and parallel bevel-cutting capability.

The patented technology makes beveling a precise and stable process without maintenance downtimes using plasma, oxyfuel, fiber laser, and waterjet cutting processes. The self-learning calibration system is a smart solution that detects and compensates for geometry and mechanical inaccuracies without having to endure tedious calibration adjustment procedures. Compensation is based on correction movements to X, Y, and Z axes motion. The system can also be used for calibrating MicroStep's parallel bevel-cutting when using two cutting heads simultaneously.

John Prevish, United Precision Services National Sales Manager, explained that the technology is designed to eliminate inaccurate cut parts, cost overruns, missed deliveries and excessive scrap rates.

"MicroStep continues to push the boundaries of bevel cutting towards greater effectiveness and reliability delivering a quick return on investment. We are excited to offer ACTG technology to North American fabricators and equally excited to be affiliated with an innovation-leader like MicroStep," said Prevish.
