Clamp-On Compressed Air Flow Meter

KEYENCE Corporation of America's offers potential cost and energy savings for manufacturing facilities. The FD-G Series is designed to help facility managers and other users discover, quantify and prevent issues associated with facility-wide compressed air usage by providing actionable data.

"As those in charge of manufacturing facilities are well aware, compressor usage is one of the highest contributors to costly energy bills," said a company spokesperson. "Some do not understand how much air is required on a regular basis, and therefore run multiple compressors continuously to make sure there is always enough. With the FD-G Series, it is possible to determine a baseline for how much air a facility truly needs by monitoring overall usage after the receiver tank. Optimizing compressor usage and addressing any newly discovered pipe leaks can lead to cost savings in the tens of thousands of dollars in electricity bills."

Along with providing a baseline for total facility usage, additional FD-G units can monitor specific machine drop points or branch pipes. Users can quickly view graphical and numerical data from the display unit, which includes air consumption amounts as well as leakage amounts. "With network communication, control outputs, analog outputs and optional software available, accessing critical information is simple. This allows for trending air usage and tracking results over time, making the FD-G a powerful preventative maintenance tool," said the spokesperson.

"Unlike other air flow meters where cutting the pipe or drilling holes into the pipe is necessary, the FD-G Series is completely non-invasive," added the spokesperson. "The innovative clamp-on design eliminates the need for a shutdown and does not introduce any new possible leak points."

Compatible applications include compressed air and other compressed gases for metal pipes ranging from 3/4" to 8" in size.
