The VIO Linear Presetter from HAIMER provides high precision and fast axis positioning through linear motion. "The result is smoother actuation that is 25% faster than other automated presetters on the market," said a company spokesperson.
With the VIO Linear, tool measuring can be fully automated, allowing assemblies to be measured at the push of a button. The machine rotates the tool, lowers the arm and positions the spindle. Placement and focusing of the camera are also automatic. The VIO Linear does it all without a lot of human intervention for a reduction in errors and greater repeatability in measuring.
Additionally, the VIO Linear is now available with a manual Y-axis. It allows the user to move the optics carrier by +/-100 mm in the Y direction; get the cutting edge into the focus plane of the camera; and measure tools carrying non-centered cutting edges.
Like all models in the VIO series, the VIO Linear features the Microvision VIO image processing system. It can hold tools weighing up to 352 lbs. (160 kg) and up to 39.37" (1,000 mm) in diameter. "With the VIO Linear, large assemblies are easy to measure with absolute accuracy and reliability. Distortion is low even under the maximum load due to its built-in high rigidity," said the spokesperson. "For users with more complicated tools like forming tools or step tools, advanced software options like VIO Scan can make inspection of such tooling fast and easy."
The VIO Linear comes standard with autofocus, motorized fine adjustment, incident light, edgefinder, a premium base cabinet that includes storage for nine adapters, and user management. Robust cast iron construction offers equipment longevity and a thermally optimized material combination allows for ±2 µm measurement repeatability.
Other standard features include:
- ISS-U universal ultra-high precision spindle with automatic adapter identification
- Fast, silent and high accuracy cutting edge approach by linear drive
- Data exchange and data transfer to the machine tool (integration of all popular RFID systems)
- 24" multi-touch screen
- Sigma function
- Unlimited tool memory
- Swiveling operating panel
- 2 µm spindle runout.
All of the VIO models offer the availability of various data exchange platforms, including post-processor bidirectional interfaces or integrated RFID carrier systems. These Industry 4.0 features further enhance speed and repeatability through enhanced data communication. Post-processing communication can be facilitated via USB, Ethernet LAN or RS232. RFID systems can be integrated via a built-in read/write head or separate manual head.
VIO Scan and VIO Fit, which come as a package, are hardware/software options available on the VIO Linear (and VIO Linear Toolshrink). The VIO Scan enables a complete physical scan of the entire tool between any two points the user selects (usually top and bottom of the tool), and creates a complete measured image. The VIO Fit is the more robust software interface that allows the user to upload a dimensioned drawing of the tool, overlay it with the scanned image, and then measure variations between the scan and the drawing.
Other options available for the VIO Linear include mechanical tool clamping and pneumatic spindle break. Users can also add motorized 4 x 90° or 3 x 120° indexing or a second camera for rotation center measuring, as well as a 27" multi-touch screen and many others.
