New Filler Metals

The Element family of filler wires.

Hobart Brothers Company will showcase its latest filler metals: Hobart FabCOR F6 gas-shielded metal-cored wire; Hobart Element gas-shielded flux-cored wire; and MAXAL 4943 aluminum wire and TIG cut-lengths.

"The FabCOR F6 wire is designed to provide higher deposition rates and faster travel speeds than solid wires to help increase productivity on single-pass, flat and horizontal welding applications," said a company spokesperson. "It is specifically designed for welding on galvanized or thin-gauge steels, and is ideal for automated and mechanized welding on automotive and transportation applications.

"The Hobart Element family of six wires produces manganese emissions well below the levels of other gas-shielded flux-cored wires on the market. Because of the innovative formulation of the flux fill, the wires achieve these low manganese levels without sacrificing mechanical properties or weldability. They also provide very low spatter levels and consistent arc stability, ensuring reliable welding performance on a variety of applications.

"The MAXAL 4943 aluminum MIG wire and TIG cut-lengths are the first aluminum filler metal to be classified by the American Welding Society (AWS) for wrought commercial applications in over 40 years. They are also registered by the Aluminum Association and offer high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, along with low hot cracking sensitivity. The filler metals are suitable for elevated temperature applications and provide the ability to reduce weld size without compromising strength."
