High Production Twin-Spindle Honing Machine

Ohio Tool Works (OTW) offers its OTW Twin-Spindle 5000 honing machine. According to Randy Iselt, OTW's Vice President of Sales, the OTW Twin-Spindle 5000 offers pump barrel manufacturers the opportunity to potentially double their production.
"Developed for a large oil country tubular goods (OCTG) manufacturer, the OTW Twin-Spindle 5000 was specifically designed to help suppliers of pump barrels and other high volume extraction related products achieve new levels of productivity while protecting the dimensional integrity of their thin-walled, small diameter parts," said a company spokesperson.
According to the company, the OTW Twin-Spindle 5000 offers a turn-key package of proprietary honing technologies and advantages, including:
- Twin parallel spindles for simultaneous production of two barrels
- Quick-change, hydraulic fixturing for rapid part clamp and un-clamp
- Specialized tooling and cutting fluid formulations designed to improve straightness, surface finish and preserve wall integrity in DOM tubing, brass and chrome plate
- Independent feed systems for adjusting stock removal rates between parts
- Automated touch screen PLC controls for easy operation in the high production environment
- Solid construction and durability of system, tooling and abrasives.
Specifications include:
- I.D. capacity: 1.25" - 3.5" (31.75 - 89 mm)
- O.D. capacity: up to 4.5" (114 mm)
- Stroke capacity: 22' - 42' (7 - 13 m)
- Spindle drive: 40 HP (29.8 kW)
- Spindle speeds: infinitely variable (various packages to 750 RPM)
- Reciprocation rate: infinitely variable (10 - 100 FPM).
