HEIDENHAIN CORPORATION has announced a collaborative partnership with the Machinists Institute, a nonprofit training organization in association with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) trade union.
The Machinists Institute, with facilities on the West Coast in Seattle, Spokane and Vancouver, WA, as well as Oakland and Long Beach, CA, provides apprenticeship and training in support of workforce development in the manufacturing, machining and industrial sectors.
The Machinists Institute provides standard training curriculum in manual and CNC machine operation and programming, robotics, additive manufacturing and shop economics.
The HEIDENHAIN CONNECT Manufacturing Innovation Hub, launched in April 2024 and located in Fremont, CA, will serve as a hands-on training facility that will enable an extension of outreach to the Bay Area companies, universities and trade schools.
Adam Grim, Sr. Director of Operations, stated, "Leveraging HEIDENHAIN and Acu-Rite Solutions products, with its OEM and OEI partnerships, allows the Machinists Institute to extend the training experience from entry level manual machine tool operation to high-end 5-axis CNC control capabilities. HEIDENHAIN's automation and digital manufacturing technology footprint expands the student training experience."
David Doyle, President & CEO of HEIDENHAIN CORPORATION, said, "Our CONNECT hub initiative has been very successful, and we look forward to conducting multiple events with our partners and in conjunction with the Machinists Institute in 2025. HEIDENHAIN CORPORATION has expanded its second CONNECT hub location in Schaumburg, IL. Continued expansion and evolution of the CONNECT partnership model is anticipated throughout U.S., Canada and Mexico."
